ZhiDou D1
The brand's first model. Sold in Europe as the ZD D1 and also used in car-sharing fleets such as Share'ngo.
A two-seat, 100% electric city car that charges from an ordinary socket and parks almost anywhere.
ZhiDou (Chinese 知豆, known in Europe simply as ZD) is a Chinese maker of small electric cars. The D1 is about the size of a Smart ForTwo and was one of the cheapest electric cars ever officially sold in Slovakia. It is built for short, economical trips in and around town.
At home from a standard 230 V socket, at work or at a hotel. A Type 2 connector and cable come as standard.
Just 2,763 mm long with a 4 m turning radius. It fits where an ordinary car won't.
Around €1.70 per 100 km when charged at home. In Slovakia, third-party insurance is about €31 a year and the technical inspection is due only every 4 years.
No engine oil, filters, spark plugs or exhaust. Only the gearbox oil and brake fluid need changing.
Despite its small size, the D1 comes with equipment you wouldn't expect from a city runabout.

An electric car needs far less servicing than a combustion car. This applies to the D1 as well as the D2 / D2S, which share the same chassis and gearbox.

If the last inspection was before 1 July 2024, the original 2-year deadline still applies. The new 4-year interval starts from the next inspection.
| Long-term parking | don't leave the car discharged; when parking it for a month or more, unplug the 12 V battery connector under the front bonnet |
| Why | the remote-locking receiver and radio slowly drain the 12 V battery. Once it is flat, the traction battery cells can be over-discharged and damaged. |
| Charging in frost | LFP cells must not be charged below 0 °C, which is why the battery is heated |
| Cell balancing | via the 26-pin service connector on the battery (RC-EV-TP26A), max. 5 A per cell, up to approx. 3.65 V |
High-voltage parts (orange cables) are dangerous. If in doubt, leave the work to an EV specialist.

No wallbox or special installation needed. Plug the car into an ordinary socket in the evening and it's charged by morning. With solar panels on the roof, you drive practically for free.
